SOA Board of Directors Approves Governance Task Force Recommendations

2015 SOA President

The SOA Board of Directors recently approved several recommendations from its Governance Task Force intended to ensure the continued flow of highly qualified candidates for service as President of the SOA and to increase the effectiveness of the Board by reducing its size, strengthening opportunities for in-depth conversation, debate, and mutual consideration of ideas.

This project is part of a long tradition of SOA focus on effective governance of our association. The SOA devotes significant time, thought, and resources to developing and maintaining strong and effective governance practices for its activities.

The recent Board resolutions will have an impact on the operations of the Board and Presidential leadership, but also on the strategic direction of the SOA into the future. One of these resolutions will require a Bylaw change upon which the SOA’s Fellows will be asked to vote in the 2015 election.

Please take a few moments to read the SOA Board Announcement and let us know your comments and questions. You can email your feedback to membercomms@soa.org or please leave me comments below for discussion.  As this process moves forward, you will hear more from me and the SOA about this issue with more opportunities for you to learn and ask questions about these changes and how they impact the organization. Thank you and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
