SOA seeks nominees for 2012-13 Board of Directors

“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” –Warren G. Bennis

Are you committed to the actuarial profession? A strong leader? An enthusiastic communicator and strategic thinker? Do you want to have a say in the future direction of the profession?

If so, the Society of Actuaries Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the 2012-13 Board of Directors.

Nominees are invited to complete a questionnaire and participate in a phone interview with representatives from the Nominating Committee. More information on the nominating process can be found in our Election Fact Sheet.

Why serve? Here’s what some past Board members had to say:

“It is exciting to help shape and give guidance to interesting, forward-looking issues at SOA.”

“I gained a good appreciation of the efforts of the board to keep the profession relevant and moving forward; this was rewarding and enlightening.”

My entire career has been with one company.  This was an opportunity to see different styles of people and interests, to be exposed to ethical differences and how people reason.”

Who is the ideal board candidate?
There is no ideal board candidate. The Nominating Committee seeks diversity in terms of areas of practice, industry or employment sectors, opinion and/or geographic locations. The most important characteristic is a willingness to engage constructively in the strategic direction of the SOA.

If this sounds like you, we encourage you to run for the SOA Board. Read the Call for Nominations for more information.
