Health Care Cost Institute is launched

by Dale Yamamoto, President, Red Quill Consulting

DaleYamamoto An unprecedented health research initiative launched in September to allow researchers and policymakers access to a comprehensive collection of health plans and government payer data that will offer new insights into health care costs, utilization and intensity.

The Health Care Cost Institute’s mission is to promote independent research and analysis on the causes of rising U.S. health spending, provide various stakeholders with better information on what is driving health care costs and help ensure that the nation is able to get greater value from its health spending.

As a member of the Institute’s Governing Board, I think this effort will go a long way in providing greater access to better data in order to understand what drives health care costs and how to improve quality of care while saving resources.

What kinds of research would you like to see coming from this new data resource? What do you see as the primary drivers of health costs? Are there ways you suggest bending the cost curve?

Sharing is caring.
